Fyodor Ivanovich Buslaev said: “Native language is an inexhaustible treasury of the whole ecclesiastical existence of a man.” We must preserve and multiply this ecclesiastical being, strengthening and developing our native language.
Indeed, native language, traditions and customs form the basis of cultural heritage, ecclesiastical existence, and every nation is proud of it, strives to ensure that its language, culture, values are understood and respected. For this purpose, various cultural centers are created, classical literature is translated into different languages, cultural festivals, creative competitions, language competitions are organized and held. Such international cultural and educational centers as “Confucius Institute”, “Goethe Institute” and “Cervantes Institute” are known worldwide: their activities are aimed at dissemination of language and culture in the world community.
Of course, the worthy place among all the multicolour languages on the planet is for the Russian language, which attracts with its wealth and expressiveness. Our classic writers have done a lot to glorify the Russian language, to reveal its limitless possibilities. And what can we, the people living in the XXI century, do in order to strengthen the Russian language in our country and confidently walk the planet?
Five years ago, Pyatigorsk State University joined the process of creating and opening the Pushkin Institute’s Russian Language and Culture Centers as part of the Russian Language and Education Promotion Program outlined in the Russian Federation in accordance with the tasks set by the President and the Government of the country, and started to implement the main vectors of this program. Promotion of the Russian brand “Pushkin Institute” was one of the most important tasks of this program. The creation of the “Pushkin Institute” Center was an interesting and significant event for the university in 2014, which was declared the Year of Culture in Russia.
It is important that the Russian brand is associated with the name of A.S. Pushkin, a genius who was ahead of the Russian consciousness. It was he who created the Russian literary language, freed it from archaic forms, seeing beauty and harmony in simplicity. Our task is studying and spreading the heritage of the great poet, the Great Russian word.
