Within three years already, children and parents of this district of Moscow attend the Family Reading Club that keeps activities at school № 1458.
Such clubs represent one of the important ways to develop the children's interest in reading. Reading clubs contribute to form confiding relationship between children and their parents, to improve reading skills, speech, imagination, thinking and other important qualities of the personality. Parents are aware of the value of family reading evenings, they consider them an effective tool of education and upbringing that prompts schoolchildren's intellectual development. The family reading practice makes teenagers and adults emotionally closer, bringing them the sense of mutual understanding, kindness and sympathy.
Headed by the school library manager V. I. Demchenko and the form-master L.M. Starkova, the Club organizes readers' conferences, literary quizzes and intellectual games. The members of the Club produce theatrical performances on the plots taken from literary works of the school curriculum.
The Club does not limit its major task by cultivating in schoolchildren the taste for reading, but teaches them to discuss the texts they have read, to draw proper conclusions, to form life ideals, to find out the right pass of life. Through reading the children learn to empathize, to share heroes'feelings, to express their opinion, to build relationships with their peers. The Club helps parents understand better their child, provide him with a pleasing pastime and instill high spiritual qualities.
The Club members have many interesting plans and ideas. They are convinced that this work is very important, because the family reading give children and their parents the opportunity to grow intellectually, to cultivate kindness, understanding and confidence in their families.
