And V.P.Kopchenkov was working at this very school – a veteran of war, composer, organizer of boys’ chorus, decorated with the order “Service to Art” and Honorary Art Worker of Russia, President of the Association of children and youth choruses of Russia, chorusmaster, pedagogue, composer Y.L.Tugarinov, who devoted to children all his life and creative work.
Many understand that this young generation lacks mental warmth, sincerity, live interest to its problems, wishes, and worries in our modern world. That is why school teachers lead their students the way of lifeline, trying to touch thin strings of children souls, and sometimes making you look around yourself to see and hear something wonderful in every life moment, to differ good from bad, to empathize pain and to share joy.
So, what methods are necessary to use to reach the wishing success?
At the CMS (Children Music School) named after A.Glazunov every child has the opportunity to play different instruments: piano, guitar, violin, violoncello, harp, domra (Russian stringed folk instrument), balalaika (Russian stringed folk musical instrument), accordion, button accordion, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, flute, percussion instruments and others. A child can sing solo, in chorus, or ensemble, and perform on the stage trying out different artistic and musical images; to play in orchestra of folk instrument and in brass band, in ensemble of violinists, and in domra and balalaika bands.
Taking rhythmic classes helps to coordinate the body in gymnastic and dance movements; conducting the orchestra to feel like the leader of a chorus and creator of vocal and chorus canvases; to take on a role of concertmaster at the class of piano and ensemble, the role of story-teller in music literature… There are so many choices. It is necessary only to arouse a child’s interest to make a choice, to stimulate an interest in music and performance.
By solving these tasks, the school teachers conduct very wide extracurricular work. First of all, they participate in the city project “Classic music in the kindergarten”. The project implies the organization of concerts of school students at the Moscow kindergartens (in our case – in Maryino and Lyublino districts) and it is aimed at introducing the people of these districts with the school activity and also at attracting students to school. And the children, when performing at concerts, even beginners, feel like actors; they are taught not to be afraid of performing in public and acting on a stage. Numerous holiday concerts are held, and even final tests and exams are held in the form of concerts where the parents are invited as viewers. Solo performers, creative teams and their directors prepare and participate in festivals and contents within their district and Moscow, and sometimes visit other Russian cities and foreign countries.
For example, the senior chorus of the Chorus Department “Rosinka” (Dewdrop) and the middle chorus “Magnolia” (the director Isaeva N.A., the concertmaster Mizyaeva V.V.) are laureates and winners of awards of festivals in Moscow and Moscow oblast, Estonia, and France. The band of folk instruments (the director Tyikva T.A.) is a laureate and winner of awards of festivals in Moscow, Rzhev, Saint-Petersburg, Belorussia, the Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden, Austria, Italy, and Estonia. The folklore ensemble “Novina” (Virgin Soil) (the director Averyanova O.N., the concertmaster Vednikov I.Y.) is a laureate of festivals and concerts in Moscow, Kostroma, Kaluga, Saint-Petersburg, Poland, Sweden, France, Belgium, and Germany.
It is necessary to mention that the only teaching and educational and concert work is not enough to make children enjoy and wish to study at school. It is important to have spiritual communication, trust and mutual understanding between teachers and students. Only this kind of communication is able to smooth away many sharp corners that inevitably occur at studying process. And it is well-known that modern children are too overloaded: often combining comprehensive secondary and music school, athletics and foreign language classes, dancing classes and needlework, and so on. So, when a child has a tough choice to make – what to focus his or her attention at and what to be occupied with – a teacher’s timely given advice, a wish to attend a favourite pedagogue, purposeful desire to become a musician may be a crucial factor for their choice.
In conclusion, it has to be noted that a man’s education is impossible without forming their emotional sphere, which starts since birth and continues and is corrected throughout life. And the most important and decisive period of feelings forming is when we are infants and during the juvenile period. And a person, who appears by a child’s side, whose voice will be crucial, is able to drastically change the life and fortune of a future citizen of their own country.
