PSLU is an active participant of forums and competitions on national and international levels and, as a result, the owner of prestigious awards and ranks.
In the PSLU collection - the Gold Medal under the nomination “100 Best Organizations of Russia in Science and Education”, Silver Lermontov Medal for its contribution in implementation of advanced methods of teaching. Per the results of 2009 PSLU became the prizewinner of “A Hundred Best Goods of Russia” Program in the nomination “Educational Services” and was awarded with a Diploma and Medal “Quality Excellence”. In 2007 the university became the prizewinner of the prestigious national competition "Russian Organization of High Social Efficiency" held under the aegis of the Government of Russia, in the branch "Science and education".
In 2009 the rector of PSLU, Professor Alexander Gorbunov as a part of delegation from 23 countries, PSLU was the one and only university from the North Caucasus, participated in the first Universities Rectors Forum "Iberoamerika-Russia" that was held as a part of President of the Russian Federation D. A. Medvedev’s visit to the Kingdom of Spain and a meeting with King Juan Carlos.
In the summer of 2010, students of PSLU were awarded the Second Class Diploma for the participation in the contest of students’ projects on the subject of service sector and hotel service within the scope of the 17th international conference of the EURHODIP Association in Zaragoza (Spain) which hosted representatives of 22 countries.
PSLU confirmed its socially credible status having become an only North Caucasus institution of higher education among 26 winners of the national contest and was privileged to establish the Volunteers Training Center for the XXII Olympic Games and XI Paralympics in Sochi in three nominations: "Administrative activities and accreditation"; "Communication and media facilitation";"Facilitating delegations, protocol, linguistic services". The PSLU Volunteers Training Center "PROFI-SOCI-LINGUA" was happy to send about 800 people who worked excellent among twenty five thousand volunteers of the Olympic Games.
Pyatigorsk State Linguistic University spreads across one of the most beautiful places of Pyatigorsk – the capital of the North Caucasus Federal District, a pearl of Stavropol Region and Caucasian Mineralnye Vody – the city glorified by Lermontov, Pushkin, and Tolstoy. Pyatigorsk is a large scientific and educational center with numerous (more than 22 thousand) students, state and non-state universities and branches. PSLU is an integral part of the university community of Pyatigorsk. The university is known for its traditions and schools of sciences, and its activity and innovative approach to business. Within many decades, the University has been maintaining its reputation as one of the most prestigious universities in the South of Russia offering elite higher education.
