Kokla Victor Ivanovich (1919-1981)
Having gained a graduate diploma in English Philology at the 1st Leningrad State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages, Kokla V. I. got the post of the Senior Lecturer of English at the Sub-Department of Foreign Languages of Pyatigorsk State Pedagogical Institute. He was appointed the Dean of the Department of Foreign Languages of PSPI. Later he was transferred to Stavropol State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages. Because of the merge of Foreign Languages departments of Pyatigorsk Institute and Stavropol, Victor Ivanovich returned to Pyatigorsk where he was appointed the acting Deputy Director for academic and scientific work of Pyatigorsk Pedagogical Institute. In 1958-1961 he was the dean of The English department, later he was appointed the Vice Rector for academic work of PSLU.
Victor Ivanovich also performed big public work, was a member of scientific and methodological councils of foreign languages of the Ministry of Public Education of the USSR and RSFSR, a member of section of linguistics of the North Caucasian Coordination Scientific Association.
Victor Ivanovich is a veteran of the Great Patriotic War. Serving in the military unit of the Leningrad front, participated in defense of Leningrad, in fights for Vyborg, in release of the Baltic republics, took part in fights on the territory of Poland and in a capture of Konigsberg, Danzig, Stettin. For the shown courage Victor Ivanovich was awarded the medals "For Courage", "For Defense of Leningrad", "For a Capture of Konigsberg", "For a Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945”.
Makayev Vyacheslav Vladimirovich (1924-2012)
After graduation from school in 1941, worked as the assembler of communication of Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Industrial Complex, served in the ranks of Red Soviet Army – in troops of the Transcaucasian front: private soldier, senior sergeant, lieutenant. He was awarded the order of Patriotic war of the II degree, the medal "For a Victory over Germany in 1941-1945.", ten anniversary military medals.He was demobilized from the Armed Forces in the summer of 1947.
From 1947 he was a student of the physical and mathematical department of Pyatigorsk Pedagogical institute. Later, working at school as a teacher, he continued to study at the physical and mathematical department of Pyatigorsk Pedagogical Institute. Having successfully ended postgraduate study, since 1954 began his work in the sub- department of pedagogics of Pyatigorsk State Pedagogical Institute of foreign languages, later he was elected to a position of the head of the sub-department. Under his management the sub-department carried out big research work. Having defended his doctoral thesis, in 1977 he became professor of the department of pedagogics. V. V. Makayev directed on a voluntary basis the Stavropol regional laboratory on studying by school students of heritage of V. I. Lenin, was a member of the council on pedagogical lexicology at the President of NPA(Novosti Press Agency) of the USSR, the member of an expert commission on pedagogics at the North Caucasian scientific center of the Higher school, the member of Presidium of the Stavropol regional office of Pedagogical society.
For the long-term period of work at institute V. V. Makayev proved to be a highly qualified expert, he is known and loved by students of many institutes not only of our country but also abroad. Collections of lecture courses on pedagogics and the history of pedagogics created by him are very popular among students and lectures of many pedagogical Institutes.
